  Power point presentation “Concept of Physics”

Dated 14-10-2023

Physics Department of PCM SD College for Women, Jalandhar  organized PowerPoint Presentation on the topic "CONCEPT OF PHYSICS". It was organized to focus on making connection between facts and fostering new understanding in students and to encourage students to analyse, interpret and predict information. Ritika from B.sc (Computer Science) Sem 5th bagged 1st position. Blossom from B.Sc (Non-Medical) Sem 1 bagged 2nd position. Nidhi from B.Sc(Non-Medical) Sem 1 and Sandesh Preeti from B.Sc(Computer Science) Sem 5 bagged 3rd position respectively.

National Science Day

Dated – 28th Feb 2024

CV Raman Society of PCM SD College for Women, Jalandhar celebrated "National Science Day " under IIC(Institution's Innovation Cell) to commemorate invention of "Raman Effect" by an Indian physicist Dr.CV Raman. Students from B.Sc(Non-Med.,Computer Science) participated in Poster Presentation and Model Demonstration. The objective of the event was to build scientific temperament, innovation and creativity among students. Bhavika, Sandesh Preeti, Nisha ranked first,second and third in Model Demonstration. Ziya, Ritika and Jasleen were adjudged first, second and third in Poster Presentation Competition. In the end, Ms.Muskan Kalra from Department of Chemistry, gave brief description on National Science Day and encouraged the students to participate more in such activities.






Participation in ECO VIBES at HMV College Jalandhar

Dated- 5th April 2024

Students  from Department of Science, Fashion designing and Cosmetology participated in ‘Eco vibes’  an Intercollege competition competition organised by HMV college, Jalandhar on 5th April 2024 .Student of the different department participated in various events such as poster making ,slogan writing, rangoli making, face painting and innovative fashion dress. Students represent their views on environment through their innovative ideas.  Students learn about various methods to reutilize the waste material also get aware about various environmental issues and how to overcome these issues and recycled the used things.

Nisha (Bscnon medical) sem 6th participated in Poster making competition, Ziya ( Bscnon medical) 6th sem  participated in slogan writing, Manpreet ( Bscnon medical)and komal ( Bscnon medical) members 6th participated in Rangoli making competition.  Prachi ( P.G diploma in cosmetalogy) participated in face making her model was Riya. Anjali (Msc in F.D) and Aditi (Msc in F.D) took part in innovative fashion dress .

 

                     



 

Participation in National Science Day at Layallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar

Dated- 20th March 2024

Students from Department of Science participated in National Science Day held on 20 March 2024 at Layallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar. Various activities like Poster presentation, Rangoli making, Best out of waste, and powerpoint presentation were organized.Students from B.Sc (non-med.) and B.Sc(Comp. Sc.) participated actively. Nisha from B.Sc (non-med) got 2nd position in poster presentation.





Declamation Competition on World Water Day

Dated – 22th March 2024

In celebration of World Water Day, PCM SD College for Women's Eco Club and the Department of science collaborated to organize a declamation contest centred on water conservation. The event aimed to raise awareness and inspire action among students regarding the importance of preserving water resources. Participants delivered impassioned speeches highlighting the significance of responsible water usage, the impact of water scarcity, and innovative solutions for conservation. Through this initiative, the college community was encouraged to reflect on their role in safeguarding this precious resource. The contest underscored the commitment of PCM SD College for Women to environmental sustainability and education for a greener future.

 



 

 

One day National Workshop “Hands on Mathematics and Science by Dr.Jaswinder Singh

Dated – 29th March 2024

The "Hands-on Mathematics and Science" workshop, held on 29th March 2024 at PCM SD College For Women, Jalandhar aimed to revolutionize teaching practices by advocating for practical learning experiences. The workshop, led by Dr.  Jaswinder Singh, a renowned expert in math and science education, aimed to revolutionize teaching methodologies through practical learning experiences on the wheel. Educators and students attended to explore innovative strategies for integrating hands-on activities into math and science instruction. Dr. Singh guided participants through interactive sessions focusing on math activities, science experiments, and the integration of technology to enhance student engagement and understanding. Through collaborative discussions and demonstrations, participants gained valuable insights into effective teaching practices and pedagogical approaches. The workshop concluded with participants equipped with practical tools and strategies to create dynamic learning environments that promote critical thinking and inquiry-based learning in math and science classrooms. Dr. Singh's expertise and guidance catalyzed professional growth and inspired educators to embrace experiential learning in their teaching practices.

 




 

Trip to CSIR Mohali

Dated – 8th April 2024

Educational trip enhance the knowledge of the students and also broaden their outlook toeards the outside world. This year an educational trip to CSIR IMTECH Chandigarh was organized by Department of Science and Department of Mathematics of  PCM SD College for Women Jalandhar under the sincere guidiance of Madam Principal Dr. Pooja Prashar on 8 April 2024. 17 students accompanied with 3 faculty members joined the trip. Such activities  provide students with practical exposure to advanced scientific instruments and research facilities in field of Sciences.

        




 

Workshop on “Uttam Ahaar Uttam Vichar”

On 19April 2024, workshop on "Uttam Ahaar Uttam Vichar "  organised by Department of Science to promote the importance of good nutrition for holistic well being, including physical health, mental clarity and emotional balance. The workshop aimed to educate participants on making food choices and cultivating mindful eating habits.

Dr. Nitika Kapoor, Assistant Professor Department of Botanical and Environmental Sciences Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar presented strategies for incorporating more fruits, vegetables and grains into dietary meals. She presented a presentation on "Awareness Regarding Millets ". Participants had the opportunity to learn how to prepare nutritious diet .UttamAhaar 'good food',  Uttam Vichar 'good thoughts' within communities. Key components of Uttam Aahar include balanced diet, Nutrient density, Hydration etc. Around 40 students attended the workshop. By promoting good food and good thoughts, individuals and communities can achieve optimal health, happiness and quality of life. President Shri Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Shri Vinod Dada, other members of managing committee and Principal Dr.Pooja Prashar appreciated the Department of Science for organising such workshop on Uttam Ahaar Uttam Vichar as a guiding principle for personal and societal wellbeing.


 



 


Session-2021-22

SCIENCE TALK COMPETITION (5th May 2022)

 


 The Department of Physics organized a Science Talk competition for students of B.Sc (Non. Med & comp. sci). The aim of the competition was to hone the public speaking skills of the students and teach them to be articulate while expressing their thoughts and opinions. The speakers of different classes spoke eloquently on such topics as Physics in our everyday life, Physics behind climate change, Physics in the medical field, Future source of energy, and Why is physics beautiful? And wireless electricity. This event aims at showcasing our student's expertise in speaking skills. The students performed with the utmost zest and zeal. they exhibited their knowledge through versatility in their topics. Sakshi and Navpreet Kaur of B.Sc non-med semester VI bagged the first position. Nisha of B.sc non-med semester II got second position and Ritika of BSc computer science semester II made it to the third position.



NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY(28th Feb 2022)




The Department of Physics and Chemistry celebrated National science day on 28th Feb 2022. The department organized a Poster Presentation competition for the students of B.Sc (Non-Med) and B.Sc(Computer science). The theme for the poster presentation is Science and environment, chemistry in everyday life, saving the earth, artificial intelligence, and its application. The students performed with great enthusiasm and confidence. they proved their knowledge through their versatility in topics and their talent with excellent performance.

QUOTE PRESENTATION COMPETITION(13th Nov 2021)


The Department of Physics organized a QUOTE PRESENTATION competition for the students of B.Sc(non-med) and B.Sc(C.Sc) In the seminar hall. The students performed with great enthusiasm and confidence. They proved their knowledge through their versatility in their topics and their talent with excellent performance. Vanshi of Bsc semester V got the first position. Harmanjot Kaur of Bsc semester V got second position and Ritika of Bsc semester I made it to the third position.

POSTER PRESENTATION COMPETITION(13th Nov 2021)




Physics Department celebrated the Birthday of Dr. Homi J.Bhabha (Nuclear Scientist) on 13th November 2021. The department organized a POSTER PRESENTATION COMPETITION  for the students of B.Sc(non-med) and B.Sc(C.Sc) in the seminar hall. The participants of different classes presented their posters on such topics as the Role of physics in daily life, the Latest inventions of physics, Energy resources, Waves and oscillation, optics and lasers, and electric circuits. The students performed with great enthusiasm and confidence. They proved their knowledge through their versatility in their topics and their talent with excellent performance. Sandesh Preeti of BSc semester I bagged the first position. Prabhnoor Kaur and Navroop Kaur of Bsc semester III got the second position and Sakshi Kushwaha of Bsc semester V got the third position.

GUEST LECTURE ON DEVELOPMENT OF TECHNICAL & INNOVATIVE SKILLS (23rd oct 2019)

 
The department organized a Guest lecture on "Development of Technical & Innovative skills" for the students and faculty members. Dr. Vineet Khular acted as a resource person. Dr. Vineet Khular, Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Tennesse TN, USA, guided and motivated the students to actively involve in research projects.

GUEST LECTURE ON MIND POWER AND MEMORY SKILLS(13th Dec 2018)

The Department of Physics organized a Guest lecture on "Mind Power & Memory Skills" for the students and the faculty members. Mr. Rajeev Kuwar( HOD of Physics in DAV college Jalandhar) acted as a resource person. he motivated and guided the students to enhance their memory power, imagination power & hard work.  

CELEBRATION OF NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY(28 Feb 2018)













 National Science day was celebrated by the C.V Raman Society of Science Department on 28th Feb 2018. The students of B.Sc (Non-med) and B.Sc(computer sci.) participated in different events like Poster presentations, Science quizzes, PowerPoint presentations, Extempore, and Scientific Rangoli. The theme for the events was "Eco-friendly method to control pollution, Chemistry in everyday life, Science for Swach Bharat  Abhiyan and science for society".Dr.Kiran Arora, Principal of PCM SD college for women was the chief guest of the day. She appreciated the hard work of the students to participate in such activities.
POSTER PRESENTATION COMPETITION (18 Nov 2017)

Inter-class Poster Presentation Competition was organized by the C.V. Raman Society of science department on 18-11-2017. The participants of different classes presented their posters on such topics are-  Global Warming, saving the earth, and Environmental pollution. The students performed with great enthusiasm and confidence.
